Every playmat starts as an idea—a layout that solves a gameplay problem, a piece of art that sets the mood, or a custom request from a player who knows exactly what they want. But turning that idea into a finished mat takes precision, patience, and a little bit of heat.
It begins with the design. We build each layout in professional art software, making sure every zone is placed with intention. We use high-resolution canvases so the final print is sharp, and we adjust colors to account for the difference between glowing screens and printed fabric. What looks perfect on a monitor might need a little warmth or contrast to pop on neoprene.
Once the design is finalized, we print it in mirror image on special transfer paper using dye-sublimation ink. This ink doesn’t sit on the surface—it’s designed to bond with polyester fibers when exposed to heat and pressure.
Enter the heat press. This machine applies consistent, high heat and firm pressure across the entire mat. As the ink turns to vapor, it fuses into the fabric, creating a vibrant, permanent image that won’t crack, peel, or fade. It’s the same process used for high-end sportswear and signage—built to last.
After pressing, we trim the mat to size and inspect the surface. If the design calls for it, we add stitched edges to prevent fraying and give it a polished look. Finally, we roll it, pack it, and ship it—ready to transform your next game night.
It’s a process rooted in craftsmanship. Every mat is made with care, because we know it’s not just a surface—it’s part of the experience.
